Katrina says,Bachna Ae Haseeno’ would’ve been one of the longest films in the history of Hindi cinema

Subhash K. Jha: Director Siddharth Anand says he knocked off the section of “Bachna Ae Haseeno” that was to feature Katrina Kaif because the film was getting too long.

“If we had kept Katrina’s portion ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ would’ve been one of the longest films in the history of Hindi cinema - much beyond three hours.”

The director admits it wasn’t easy breaking the news to Katrina.

“Nobody had the heart to break the news to her. When she heard she was out, Katrina was really upset. What to do? In fact, Katrina’s track was one of our favourites, but she saw our point of view when she saw the film,” Anand told IANS.

Ranbir Kapoor plays the main lead in this romantic comedy and will be seen courting Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone.

“The only reason we dropped the Katrina track was because it hadn’t been shot. Otherwise, she’s the biggest star we’ve in our film. Katrina has had only one flop in her entire career. Dropping her track had upset all of us,” he added.

For Anand, directing his childhood chum was inevitability. Not only are their parents close friends, but Ranbir and Anand also grew up together.

In fact, the two had made a pact that they would start their careers together. But then Anand got busy with his two back-to-back Saif Ali Khan starrers.

“Ranbir and I are like brothers. I know him from the time he was born. I’m shocked by Ranbir’s expertise in front of the camera. In my film, he’ll be completely different from the way he was in ‘Saawariya’. Ranbir is full ready on the sets. Superb energy and a great dancer.”

Actress Katrina Kaif dumped Salman Kan

Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif finally seems to be getting away from Salman's shadow. The year 2007 was indeed special for Katrina as she is the only actress to achieve four back-to-back successes in the year in Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome.
Today she has become the highest paid item girl in the industry paid a whopping 1.5 crore to shimmy in Shree Ashtavinayak’s next film Blue.

The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta in lead roles.

We hear, when the production house asked her to do an item number, Kaif initially refused, as she doesn’t want the label of an item girl.

But when the makers agreed to pay her a 1.5 crore fee and offered a few more scenes, the actress accepted.

However, Balaji people were not that lucky. When they approached Katrina to do an item number for their next, C Company, the actress flatly turned it down. Money, of course, was the bone of contention. Balaji was not willing to shell out that kind of money.

But being an item with a fat pay cheque is not what she all wants, she wants to share space with someone like Hrithik.

“I don’t know if I would get an opportunity to work with him so early in my career, but he is one actor I would love to work with, no questions asked," she tells.

"The way he put his heart and soul into the character of Akbar left me speechless. I'm looking forward to working with Hrithik sometime soon.”

Of course, she is also in for an image makeover, so it is bye bye girl next doot and hello sexy siren phase for Katrina.

But this change is not just confined to her professional life. She is also delibrately distancing herself from Salman.

So when someone from media asked her Salman Khan and his ongoing flings with Brazilian supermodel Bruna Abdalah and Mahek Chahal Kat just pounced on the poor guy saying," You know, you guys need to learn that when someone is standing before you, you have to treat that person with respect."

"It's a ridiculous question, ridiculous. You guys need to learn to draw the line," she added before walking away in a huff.

All eyes are on Abbas-Mustan's action thriller "Race"

The Bollywood box office has been virtually dry since UTV's last release, "Jodhaa Akbar", hit the marquee. Now all eyes are on Abbas-Mustan's action thriller "Race".

Releasing March 21, the film is expected to bring some respite to the ticket window. Starring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna, it will also be released by UTV.

Apart from Ashutosh Gowariker's epic romance "Jodhaa Akbar", the only film worth mentioning, which fed the box-office during this lean period, was Subhash Ghai's "Black & White", about terrorism. The movie opened two weeks ago.

Though Ghai's movie has been critically acclaimed, it is not exactly a money-spinner for Mukta Arts. Despite being well executed and marked by Anil's sinewy performance, the film has proved to be a damp squib at the box office.

In any case "Black & White", which in terms of its theme is unlike other Ghai productions, was not expected to be a big hit. But coming from the Mukta Arts' stable and the fact that Ghai returned to direction with it after a long hiatus, it had generated hope.

However, collections in the first week of its release were not too heartening a story.

In Mumbai, the movie could collect nearly Rs.60 lakh from 40 cinemas in the first week, which is generally not a figure one would expect of a Ghai production. There are also reports that the movie attracted poor audience in North India in spite of the tax exemption in Delhi and in Uttar Pradesh.
